A place you'll never forget
You ever notice how you tend to forget where you put things? Especially when you think,"if I put it here, I'll always remember where it's at." Yet when you just throw something down into another mess, you can always find it when you need it. If you really stop to think about that for a minute, you may begin to realize, that it is not so much that you have learned to forget when you put something in a "safe" place. It is just that in your mind you know that you don't have to worry about it anymore. After all it is put away safely. However, when you leave something out in the midst of all your other messes, your mind keeps going back to your object, and often you don't even realize it. This is because in your mind you know it's not put away, and you know you need to keep your object in mind or it will be lost. If you understand this you can see how forgiveness works in almost the same manner. The bible talks in many places about forgiving each other (Matthew 6:14, Matthew 18:21-23). But have you noticed how hard that can be sometimes. The problem with forgiving someone, is that often we say we have forgiven, but we don't want to forget it. Maybe we feel that if we let ourselves forget then we become more vulnerable to future "trespasses" against us. We are leaving our problem in the middle of all our other messes. And even though we think we have gotten over it, our mind keeps reminding us of why were mad at someone because the issue is not put away. Let's try to start putting our issues we have with others in Gods hands. I believe when we do that, our mind will allow us to forget it. It's in a safe place then, and we all know what happens when we put stuff in a safe place.
