Can Calvary still produce revival?

I was preaching at a church a few months ago holding them a revival. The services was going awesome. Until about the 3rd or 4th night. I simply preached about Calvary. And no one seemed to be responsive. After church another minister came to me and said, "That was good preaching but we already know about Calvary." What is wrong with this picture? We live in a church age where people have what I like to call the "Athenian Spirit" wanting to see or hear some new thing. Why is preaching Christ and him crucified not enough (I Cor 2:2)? How can we have revival without Calvary? "....without shedding of blood there is no remission (Heb. 9:22). If we want to have revival like the book of Acts, we have to practice the book of Acts. Lets look at when the church had revival in Acts. Chapter 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 13, 16, 17, 18. One thing all these revivals have in common is Christ and him crucified. We can not afford to loose our first love. Please don't take me the wrong way, there is other messages to preach. But if we want to have true revival in our church, homes, jobs, and towns. It is going to take the preaching of the Death, Burial, and Resurrection. So to answer my first question. Can Calvary still produce revival? I believe it can, and I also don't think we can have revival without it! By: Ronnie Butler
